"There is so much writing in English on Japanese cinema that can't be accepted at face value — not because the writers are careless, but because the differences in culture and language are just too intricate. When I see August Ragone's name on a piece of writing, it gives me permission to place my faith in it completely. Among Japanese fantasy film historians, he's the best working in English." —Tim Lucas, Video Watchdog

Forgive me for posting this in the wrong place. I wanted to reply to the comment left on my blog by Mr. Ragone.

Thank you for your kind words and for visiting my blog. I bought a copy of your book a week ago and look forward to reading it as soon as I'm done with David Kalat's book on the Godzilla movies. I would like to link blogs and have already placed a link to your blog on mine.

If you don't have the link already, you can use:

I hadn't heard about the film festival but I followed your link and it looks like it will be a lot of fun. I'm considering a trip to San Francisco this summer. It would be nice to have an opportunity to meet you and I would certainly enjoy being able to meet Mr. Nakajima. I've really enjoyed his acting.

After looking at your blog I can see you're quite knowledgable about science-fiction films and TV shows from Japan. My son and I enjoyed watching the first Ultraman TV series on DVD. Is there any chance you could assist me in finding the second series, Ultra Seven, in Japanese with English subtitles on DVD? Failing that, I wonder if it can be found as a legal download somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you again and I wish you well in your writing career.

Tachyon80,
I hope you can make it out to the show this summer, and thanks for the kind comments. As for ULTRA SEVEN, as far as I know, there are no subtitled versions available at this time.

Cheers,
August
